Found that a number of popular sites are using url shorteners of differing varieties, I’m not sure how useful or not these are, I guess if a domain/web page is really long then it is a good idea.

Twitter seems to use this https://t.co/77K1CirY7H for our FDCapital page

and https://t.co/u8wzzml1dR for reporting accounts.

I can imagine that these links may also be useful from an SEO point of view, but then I don’t know too much about that.  I’ll research this area a bit further and come back and update this post.
