Back Injury
A back injury can cause quite a significant amount of pain and suffering. Back pain can be defined as acute or chronic. Acute back pain does not cause serious medical conditions and may only last for a few weeks. If the pain last more than a few weeks doctors would diagnose the back pain as chronic. Symptoms of chronic back pain are:
- Pain in the back that lasts longer than a few days
- Muscles spasms in the back
- Pain or weakness in the leg
One of the most common causes of chronic back injury is poor posture. Lost of people sit at computers all day and not realise their poor posture is possibly causing them long tern damage. Injury due to lifting heavy objects is also another cause of back pain. Overweight and lack of exercise is another possible cause, infact it is believe that as much as 80% of back pain can be caused by lack of exercise Everyone will suffer some sort of back pain in their lives, back injuries are caused by a wide variety of accidents or even poor posture. There are four main causes of back pain, Facet syndrome is caused by sudden excessive movement and often causes pain on one side of the spine only, Sacro Iliac Joint Disfunction is caused by a traumatic incident which affects the joints at the back of the pelvis, slipped discs generally occur in the lower lumber region of the spine and finally there are stress fractures of the lower spine which are often caused by overuse of the lower back in sport.
