Accident Claims in Deal

Deal is a quiet seaside town in Kent with a population of around 30,000 residents. The town lies between Dover and Ramsgate on the English Channel eight miles north-east of Dover. Deal boasts a Tudor Castle which was commissioned by Henry VIII due to a French invasion threat, and from this vantage point it is possible to see across the channel to France on a clear day.
Deal’s seafront has seen 3 different reincarnations of its pier over the years; in 1940 it was struck by a torpedoed Dutch ship, the Nora and was unsalvageable. The current pier was opened in 1957 by Prince Phillip and is the last remaining intact pier in Kent. The pier is constructed almost completely from concrete-clad steel and at 311 metres long it is exactly the same length as the Titanic. The three tiered pier-head has a café, lounge and bar, and the bottom tier is almost completely submerged under water.
Visitors of all ages can learn about Deal’s maritime history with several museums all dedicated to the subject. The Deal Maritime and Local History Museum exhibits boats and lifeboats alongside model ships and documentation of local parish registers. The Timeball Tower Museum focuses on the importance of timekeeping for ships and shipping.
