Vibration white finger Claims

Although the disease can be genetically inherited, Vibration White Finger normally occurs when a person is in constant contact with vibrating machinery such as chain saws and drills. British miners have already started to receive compensation after they developed Vibration White Finger.

The disease can also be triggered by long periods of being exposed to cold conditions and also by smoking and high levels of stress.

This disease is a form of Raynaud's Disease, which is a restriction in the blood flow, normally mainly affecting the fingers and toes but with a likelihood of affecting the ears and nose too. It has been proven that women are up to nine times more likely to be affected by Raynaud’s Disease than men, however men are of the majority that are affected by Vibration White Finger due to working conditions, with the construction industry having the second highest occurrence of Vibration White Finger.

Vibration White Finger causes the fingers to turn white with feeling of numbness and tingling. The thumbs are never really affected. In extreme cases there could be damage to nerves and muscles. Unfortunately there is no effective cure for Vibration White Finger, prevention is the only cure.

  • Always use the right tool for the job
  • Maintain and repair tools to avoid un-necessary vibration
  • Avoid forceful gripping of the tools
  • Keep warm
  • Massage fingers and do hand exercises

These are a few tips to prevent Vibration White Finger Disease. However if you happen to start suffering from Vibration White Finger you could be entitled to compensation from £1,000 to £7,000.
