Toe Injury Accident Claims

Most toe injuries happen due to work or sports related accidents. If your in a warehouse, factory or even office and drop a heavy item on your toe; or you are on a sports field and fall badly you are at risk of serious injury such as:

• Cuts and Scratches

• Abrasions or Scrapes

• Bruises – from a direct blow or a crushing injury; there is bleeding into the skin from damaged blood vessels.

• Fractures (broken bones)

• Dislocations (bone out of joint)

• Jammed toe - the end of a straightened toe receives a blow (usually from kicking something). The ligaments and tendons of the toe are stretched and torn.

• Crushed Toe - this injury often results from a heavy object falling on the toe. Usually the end of the toe receives a few cuts, a blood blister or a bruise. Sometimes the nail is damaged. A fracture of the bones inside the toe can occasionally occur.

• Subungual Haematoma (blood under toenail) - this is when a blood clot forms under the toenail. It is caused by a crush injury to the tip of the toe. Some are only mildly painful. Others can be severely painful and throbbing, and these may need the pressure released to relieve pain. The pressure can be released by putting a small hole through the nail. With larger subungual haematomas, the toenail will usually fall off. A new nail will grow back in 6 to 12 weeks.

• Torn Nail - from catching it on something.

With an injury to your toe you are advised to rest and keep the foot elevated. You should apply crushed ice wrapped in a damp cloth six times a day for the first two or three days until the swelling has gone down.

If your toe is badly bruised it could take up to four weeks for the pain to completely go and if you have cracked the bone you could be suffering for up to eight weeks.

An injury sustained to your toe that wasn’t your fault could leave you out of work for numerous weeks meaning you will lose out on a lot of wages, leaving you out of pocket.

Here at Accident Consult we can help you gain no win no fee personal injury compensation. Our expert lawyers will do everything to ensure the success of your case, starting with your free consultation.
