In a hurry for an accident claim?

These days, It seems like we are always in a rush and wherever you go hoards of people are running to catch a bus, pushing through crowds at train stations and knocking people over to grab a taxi. But in all this haste have we forgotten the most important thing? Many of us could be at risk of suffering serious personal injuries for which we may later need to make an accident claim.

I remember the days when I use to look at people travelling on the underground with wonderment, I mean, why would you run down a moving escalator only to be a few seconds ahead of the people standing patiently on the right hand side of the steps? After several weeks of working in London I realised that such hectic people were at risk of having to make no win, no fee accident claims and within only a short time I found myself joining their frenzied clan.

Clocking out at 6:00pm the mad rush would begin; I would run down my office steps, barge my way through the crowds of people blocking the pavements and run as fast as I could down the underground's escalators. In a day and age embodying a risk of loose carpets and raised kerb stones I could have easily found myself having to contact personal injury solicitors to make an accident claim for serious injuries.

Fortunately, I was never involved in an accident but one of my colleagues was. She suffered severe car accident injuries after tripping on a pothole whilst rushing to catch a bus home; the fall caused her to fly into the path of traffic and she was rushed to hospital with neck and back injuries.

After spending nearly two months off work she contacted compensation solicitors and made a no win, no fee claim against the council, stating that her road traffic injuries were caused because of the pothole. She was later awarded in the region of 4,500 in accident compensation which included damages for her injuries and loss of earnings.

Accidents such as this happen all the time; only recently did I read a news story about a women who made an accident claim because she tripped on a stair carpet at work. Like the rest of us the city based secretary was in a hurry to leave work but as she stepped on the work's staircase, the carpet moved forwards and she slipped up in the air and landed on her back.

The woman bruised her coccyx badly and took several weeks off work to recover. While at home she searched the internet for work accident compensation and stumbled across a personal injury solicitor firm that would be able to help her make a claim. Following a series of negotiations between her solicitor and her employer, the woman was awarded 2,500 which again included compensation for her injuries and loss of earnings.

Since escaping the rat race and returning back to the coast I feel relieved that I no longer have to rush to get home, risking an injury and having to make a no win no fee accident claim. Life outside the great bustling city is far more relaxed and if it takes me a little longer to get home, then the view out of the train window is a definite reminder that it's well worth the wait.

With many of my friends still living in London, I have the best of both worlds, I get to live by the sea, have views of the countryside from my desk and get to return to the bright lights of the city at the weekends for the best comedy, music and clubbing on offer in the UK. These days, the only reason that I would find myself trying to make an accident claim is if I happen to fall over in my heels whilst dancing to a rendition of Abba's Dancing Queen in a cheesy city club. But then again, I would only have myself to blame!
